Golf in Falsterbo
The Falsterbo peninsula is one of Sweden's most concentrated golf areas. Within five kilometres you'll find three courses with entirely different characters — from one of the country's most prestigious links courses to a relaxed pay-and-play. Whether you're chasing a round on a championship track or just want nine holes after a beach day, there's a course for you here.
Falsterbo Golf Club (Falsterbo GK)
Falsterbo GK is the flagship. Founded in 1909, it's one of Sweden's oldest and most respected golf clubs. The course is a genuine links — open, wind-swept, with natural sand dunes serving as bunkers and dense coastal vegetation as rough. It sits literally on the beach, with the Baltic Sea visible from nearly every hole.
The course hosts the Scandinavian Mixed, a DP World Tour and Ladies European Tour event where men and women compete on the same course for the same prize money. During tournament week (usually in June) the course is closed to visitors, but attending as a spectator is a wonderful experience — admission is free.
The course measures just under 6,400 metres from the back tees with a par of 71. It's not extremely long, but the wind — always the wind — makes it play significantly longer than the card suggests. Hole 16, a short par 3 with the sea directly behind the green, is one of Sweden's most photographed golf holes.
Green fee: Expect to pay around SEK 1,200-1,600 (approximately EUR 105-140) depending on the day and season. Booking is done through the club's website or by calling reception. During peak season (June-August), I recommend booking at least one week ahead, preferably two.
Requirements: Handicap 36 or better is required. Golf carts are not permitted (walking only), and the course has a strict dress code — no jeans, no collarless shirts.
Tips for your round
Bring wind layers regardless of the forecast. The wind on Falsterbo can shift quickly, and a calm morning can become a blustery afternoon. An extra layer in your bag is never wasted. And book an early morning tee time if you can — the course in morning light, with the sea glittering, is something quite special.
Ljunghusen Golf Club (Ljunghusens GK)
Ljunghusens GK sits just a couple of kilometres north of Falsterbo GK and offers another fine links course. It's more accessible than Falsterbo — easier to book, somewhat lower green fees, and a more relaxed atmosphere — but it's still a really good course.
The course has 27 holes split into three loops (A, B, and C). The landscape resembles Falsterbo with open, wind-exposed fairways and undulating terrain, but the feel is a bit less formal. The clubhouse has a pleasant restaurant with views over the course.
Green fee: Around SEK 700-950 (approximately EUR 60-85) for 18 holes. Booking via the website. Handicap 36 required.
Flommen Golf Club (Flommens GK)
Flommens GK is the relaxed option. It's a pay-and-play course with nine holes, located next to the Flommen nature reserve. No handicap requirement, no advance booking needed, and a green fee of around SEK 250-350 (approximately EUR 22-30).
The course is short but fun, and the setting is beautiful with views over the wetlands. It's perfect for a quick round, for beginners wanting to try links golf, or for families playing together. On late summer evenings, you can watch the birdlife in the reserve while you play — a rather unique experience.
Planning a golf trip to Falsterbo?
A week in Falsterbo gives you time to play all three courses with days left for the beach and restaurants. My suggestion: start with Flommen to get into the links feel, play Ljunghusen on day two, and save Falsterbo GK for when you've found your rhythm.
